one of my favourite pictures from Mexico!

HELLO! I’m Sarah, a 19 year old Aussie uni student with a travel (mostly!) blog. I’m studying political science/international relations and public health in Perth, Australia, and the only thing I’m really sure about with this degree is I have no idea what I’m gonna do with this degree.

When I’m not in class, you can bet that I’m either plotting my next adventure abroad or thinking about what to make for a snack – both things you can find here on 7 Steps From Home! I’ve been vegetarian for around 2 years, but all of the recipes you’ll find here are completely vegan – if you’re currently skeptical about a meat-free life, I’m hoping I can help change your mind!

As far as travel goes, I’ve been fortunate enough to live a life filled with adventures around the globe. With wanderlust having been a strong influence on me from a young age (thanks dad!), I’ve been able to visit 28 countries so far.

Favourite cities: Lisbon (Portugal), London (England), Berlin (Germany), Trinidad (Cuba) & Pokhara (Nepal)

Favourite countries: Costa Rica, Nepal, Portugal

Best travel experience: Trekking in Langtang National Park, Nepal

Weirdest food tried: I’ve discovered Cubans have a strange penchant for making desserts that have cheese with sweet food, like a mango syrup. Also ate a pigeon once in Vanuatu – obviously my pre-vegetarian days!

Dream destinations: Morocco, Norway, Croatia, New York City, Tanzania, Russia, Peru, Antarctica, India & just the whole damn Caribbean

Favourite places in my hometown: Perth, Western Australia is where I was born & bred. Fremantle is my favourite part of Perth, but honestly the entire coastline is incredible. Perth & Western Australia seriously have some of the most stunning beaches in the world – we’re worth visiting for them alone! While WA has been getting more attention recently, I still think it deserves more – if you’re coming down under, venture out west!

Travel goals for 2017: See more of Western Australia. Return to Portugal and fall even more in love with the country. Also to venture back to Nepal for another trekking adventure – something I think everyone needs to do at least once in their lives!

Favourite travel books: ’50 Places to Hike Before You Die’ by Chris Santella, ‘Into the Wild’ by Jon Krakauer, ‘1000 Places to See Before You Die’ by Patricica Schultz & Lonely Planet’s ‘The Best Place to Be Today’

Favourite non-travel books: ‘The World Peace Diet’ by Dr Will Tuttle, ‘Zoo’ by James Patterson & ‘The Five People You Meet in Heaven’ by Mitch Albom

Fun fact about me: I love astrology. And not in a shitty magazine horoscope way, like an in-depth examination of my whole natal chart kind of way. It’s amazing!
